About Geofencing
Since April 2010, Lowrance has implemented the so-called Geofencing technology on all HDS models, which imposes restrictions on the possibility of using these devices outside the United States. This is expressed by the fact that these devices, when they get outside the United States, automatically disable the possibility of changing the language (except English), setting metric units, changing Fahrenheit to Celsius and gps do not work. In addition, a flashing message appears on the screen «Unit not valid for use in this area» is not intended for use in this region!
All HDS models (HDS-Gen1, HDS-Gen2, HDS-Gen3, HDS-Carbon, HDS-Live) purchased in United States are Geofenced.
Our service can help you to unlock Geofence. Your device will become ROW (worldwide). Unlocking is needed once and will remain forever, you can safely update the software or do a full reset to factory settings.
Not geofenced models is all Simrads, all B&G, Lowrance series: elite HDI, elite hook, elite hook2, hook reveal, elite ti, elite ti2, elite FS. But they have only «Standart language pack» (Afrikaans/Afrikaans, Danish/Dansk, German/Deutsch, English (US), English (UK), Spanish/Español, Finnish/Suomi, French/Français, Greek/Ελληνικά, Icelandic/íslenska, Italian/Italiano, Dutch/Nederlands, Norwegian/Norsk, Portugese (Brazil)/Português (BR), Portugese (Portugal)/Português (PT), Swedish/Svenska.)
If you want to unlock the language on the HDS series, at first you need to unlock geofence. Technically, it isn’t impossible to unlock a language on a device that have Geofence.
